It is Kamma Vs Kapu fight, not ABN Vs PRP

It is Kamma Vs Kapu fight, not ABN Vs PRP

There is a big fight going on in the state. Though it came to light just 20 hours ago, it has been there for couple of months. It is the fight between two dominant castes in the state, particularly in the coastal districts. The two dominant casts are Kamma and Kapu.

The rivalry between these two castes is about four decades old and it went to the extreme heights when the factionists Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga (Kapu) and Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru (Kamma) fought the battle in Vijayawada. It took political turn with these two becoming MLAs.

Now, the fight continues and it is there with its ugly face. This time it is between twoinstitutions and not individuals. The ABN Andhra Jyothi, which tried to use Praja Rajyam Party in the 2009 elections to beat the common enemy – Congress – is now back hitting hard at the PRP. The PRP too is equally giving a tough fight to the ABN.

Fund crunch and bankruptcy are just the reasons being shown by these warring groups. If funds are the problem, even Telugu Desam seems to be suffering with the same now and it does not become news for the ABN.

If ideas or policies and programmes are the reason for ABN to carry a report, the TD is facing much bigger problem on issues like Telangana, free zone and by-elections to the 12 Assembly seats in Telangana. But, it does not be news for ABN.

As things are like this, does not it look like a war between two castes than two institutions?!

Is Botsa dreaming to become the first CM of separate Andhra state?

Is Botsa dreaming to become the first CM of separate Andhra state?

The entire populace of Andhra Pradesh is surprised over the U turn in the stand taken by Botsa Satyanarayana, Panchayat Raj Minister, on the issue of state bifurcation.  Botsa who till now supported Samaikya Andhra slogan has a sudden  change of perception, openly advocating for bifurcation of  Andhra Pradesh into two states of Andhra and Telengana.

Some political pundits are of the opinion that he  cant dare to take such drastic stand without the explicit blessings of the Chief Minister Rosayya who also secretly wishes to split the state.  It is viewed by many  that he is nursing a secret ambition of becoming the Chief Minister of separate Andhra State. Considering the change of caste equations in  new Andhra  state it may not be difficult.  He belongs to the strong Kapu community  and the leaders from that caste could not so far garner the opportunity to grab the CM seat from the influential Kamma and Reddy communities in the state during Congress rule so far.

The grape wine is of the opinion that once the separate Andhra state is formed, Botsa will move pawns to become CM of the state, with the help of the leaders of his own caste like Chiranjeevi of Praja Rajyam  and Dasari Narayana Rao from his own party.  With four members from his family already enjoying the political clout, it is not surprising if he aims to grab the coveted seat in the days to come.

Chirala MLA in HRC soup

Chirala MLA in HRC soup

The Chirala MLA, Amanchi Krishna Mohan, is in trouble again. This time too, surprisingly, the demand is to book cases against him under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act of 1989.

An assistant professor in a local engineering college, Prof. Alluri Dhanalakshmi, lodged a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) against the MLA. She alleged that the MLA was harassing her husband by registering false cases under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act of 1989 against her husband. She sought protection to her husband and her family from the MLA and his supporters.

The SHRC had directed the Prakasam district police to enquire into the allegation and report back to the commission by Wednesday. The commission wanted the Prakasam district police to take up the issue on priority basis.

Earlier, in October 2009, the Yerukala community from the district held a protest against the MLA alleging that he had insulted them. They laid siege to the district Collectorate demanding registration of case against the MLA under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act of 1989. The community leaders alleged that the MLA had insulted them by branding them as criminals.

The MLA had earlier alleged that some of the Yerukala men from the Stuartpuram have lent money to the weavers at high rate of interest and fleeced the weavers like criminals. He wanted the Prakasam district administration to probe into the issue. These comments of the MLA have landed him in trouble as the Andhra Pradesh Yerukala Porata Samithi, led by its State vice-president, Mohan Dharma, launched agitation.

The community took out a massive procession Ipurupalem to Chirala on October 23, 2009 seeking action against the MLA.

This time again the MLA is in trouble and the SHRC is likely to act tough. It is to be seen what the Prakasam district police would give in their report to the SHRC.

Is Lagadapati with his second wife?

Is Lagadapati with his second wife?

The whereabouts of Lagadapati Rajagopal are yet to be traced and the police are on the run to catch the missing MP.

What made Lagadapati to escape from the hospital and where did he go are the two big questions that are being discussed here. There are several answers for the question on where did he go.

Some people say that he had gone to Visakhpatnam, while others say he had gone to Hyderabad. Some say he is trying to meet a judge and seek protection while others say he is likely to surface in the High Court.

There are also answers that Lagadapati is in a private hospital getting treatment and would come out soon to undertake his much-talked about padayatra.

There are many more such answers for the first question on his missing. But, there is one guess on the second question. Why did he take the decision to escape from the hospital?

It is said that Lagadapati’s second wife had visited the hunger strike camp on Friday noon. There was commotion at the camp as his first wife, Lagadapati Padma, along with her sons, was present on the dais. Padma, on seeing the second wife, shouted at her and also the Congress workers. Lagadapati’s sons too shouted at the hapless woman, who visited the hunger strike camp along with her one-year old son.

The Congress workers and the police have sent her back from the venue. It is said the woman was pained at the insult, made suicide attempt at her mother’s house near Poranki. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where she is being treated.

Lagadapati came to know about this on Saturday evening through his supporters and is said to have decided to move out of the hospital. It was only then, he planned the escape and it is believed that he is now with the woman in a house belonging to a doctor, who is treating the woman.

It is a fact that the woman had visited the hunger strike camp on Friday afternoon, but was sent away after she was abused. Lagadapati remained silent when his wife Padama and sons were abusing this woman.

Lagadapati’s office staff called up all the media persons on Friday evening and requested them to ignore the issue relating to the woman. Except one paper (Andhra Bhoomi), no other media made a mention of this trouble and the humiliation caused to the woman.
